Brow Lift in Melbourne

About Brow Lift Surgery

Brow Lift MelbourneLateral brow lift surgery raises drooping eyebrows, taking heaviness from the upper eyelids and reduces frown lines. The skin on the forehead is elevated and smoothed and the muscles that cause wrinkles are adjusted. It is ideal for patients who do not require any skin excision and is usually done as day surgery. It is quite common to perform this procedure with a combined blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift.

This surgery treats a common sign of aging, which may result in a patient’s natural expression looking tired, upset or older than he or she actually is. By lifting the brow back to its natural line, you are able to regain control of your facial expressions and avoid looking unapproachable merely because of sagging skin.

Initial Consultation

When you schedule a consultation with Mr Ritz for brow lift surgery, you will have a chance to learn the full details of the procedure and how they will be adjusted to your particular case. He will explain to you the surgical process, what to expect from recovery and any risks that may be involved, depending on your personal medical history and the surgery itself. It is always important that you are aware of all possible complications before you prepare for surgery.

Mr Ritz will also be able to assess your condition and recommend whether you should opt for blepharoplasty along with your brow lift. He will be able to show you roughly what your results can do for you and answer any questions you might have. If you decide to schedule your surgery, you will also have a second consultation 2 weeks prior to the procedure to discuss the surgery day schedule and have any additional questions or concerns addressed. Transparency is always key in a happy patient, successful surgery and lifelong results.

When you arrive at the hospital on the day of your surgery, you will be admitted about 1-2 hours before the scheduled time. Mr Ritz will see you before operating to make pre-operative markings and ensure your anaesthetic is administered. You will be under general anaesthetic for your optimal comfort and to ensure you are not mentally affected at all by the procedure.

Brow lift surgery lasts about one hour. During the procedure, incisions will be made based on your specific condition, and the surgical technique will be discussed with you during your consultations. Once incisions are made, excess skin will be removed and your facial structure returned to symmetry. Incisions are sealed carefully to avoid scarring.

Though you will not need to stay in hospital overnight, you will remain in recovery for several hours after your procedure to allow your surgeon to ensure your safety, give you time to recover from anaesthesia and have proper dressings placed on your wounds.

You will be required to wear a bandage around your head secured by a foam dressing for up to one week. We will schedule appointments with you on a weekly basis for the first few weeks of recovery to make sure you are healing properly and to give you help and support along the way.

Post Operative Care

It is important that you take your healing very seriously and follow post-operative instructions exactly as they are given. This will ensure a healthy recovery and optimal results. If you have any questions or experience any side effects during healing, contact us immediately.

You will be limited with driving for the first week, also with physical activity including exercise and heavy lifting. Once the bandages are removed, it will be easier to asses how much you have progressed and determine whether you are ready to ease back into your normal routine.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

If you are considering a brow lift, you probably have noticed an evolution in the shape and arch of your brow line or are concerned with drooping or sagging skin. Though brow lift candidates typically are not yet suited for a facelift, the two procedures offer similar benefits:

  • Look years younger: Perhaps the most desirable benefit, a brow lift offers patients a way to shed away a few years, as the procedure will restore the condition of the skin and face as it was before signs of aging became apparent.
  • Relaxed natural facial expression: The objective of a brow lift is not to raise the brow line to an unnatural place or make you look as though you have had surgery. The goal is rejuvenation: to release you from the downturned facial expression that comes with sagging skin and return your facial expression to its natural form.
  • Firmer skin and defined brow line: Not only does a brow lift restore your expression, it restores the condition of your skin to days before deep wrinkles. You will be able to redefine your brow line and enjoy firm skin once again. You and Mr Ritz will together discuss how dramatic you wish your results to be and work together to give you the exact look you desire.
